What you need to know about Edd Stoke.

What do they Do?

I am a Theatre Practitioner, a cosplay prop builder and a general artist with a general love of all things, Sci-Fi, academic and fan-driven.

Edd’s Story

Growing up in a Labour Party household in the South East of England, I have always been encouraged to be a political animal and I’m greatly influenced by Marxism and anti-imperialism.

I found a haven in the unlimited creativity and empowerment art and creativity could bring when I started my academic journey at the University of Chichester. Soon and with unbridled excitement, I started including their politics, pop culture and my love of classic science fiction into my work.

Since graduating, I have sought to incorporate and devise work relating to complex ideological and academic concepts in order to bring them to the masses in an accessible in engaging way.

Edd’s Mission

Edd’s Stoke’s mission is to use the resources available to radically question my audience’s preconceptions and introduce them to new concepts that they either were unexposed to previously or haven’t seen in presented in this fashion before.

The Brand of Edd Stoke

Edd Stoke’s brand is expansive, covering multiple areas and often aims to resemble raw, uncompromising creativity in the face of apolitical and unchallenging work.

I would primarily describe myself as an AgitProp artist, drawing from other Artists such as Stacy Makishi, Richard Dubrowolsky and Seth Krieble. I also have deeply been influenced by Augusto Boal and the ideas within Theatre of The Oppressed.

As a member of the socialist organisation, Red Fightback, my work is very much developed around the theme of class consciousness and how the working class as an active and vibrant part of the British politics are needed to engage in today’s art industry.

"Edd Stoke has a passion and knowledge of the culture of cosplay. Within their work, they use this intellect and Ability to their advantage, performing amazing shows which every fanboy, fangirl and cosplayer will love!"

- Matthew Edwards, Artist
